Celebrating with Our Lady All Year Long

Search any day of the year and you can find a forgotten feast day for Our Lady–from an old medieval celebration of Our Lady of the Hot Oven (on February 14th interestingly) to Our Lady of the Tower Secret on November 12th (shhh, not telling.)

There are a few days that are very special for Our Lady of Woodstock and that are celebrated with rosaries, pot lucks, stories, rituals, and songs.

THE DAY OF THE DEAD

The Day of the Dead

November 2nd 6:30 pm

The Shrine to Our Lady of Woodstock sits near stones arranged by the indigenous peoples to mirror the stars in the sky. The mountains behind Our Lady were known as the Wall of the Manitou, dividing the land of the living from the land of the dead. On this day each year we summon all of the dead—from the ancient chestnuts and hemlock trees, to the displaced peoples, to the ancient sea creatures whose bodies are embedded in the local blue stone.

The revelries begin with festivities in Clark and Perdita’s home. For this reason, space is limited and we ask that you RSVP to There will be an underworld feast, ancestral crafts, and storytelling about our beloveds on the other side. We will make offerings to the dead, create lanterns to guide them to the Shrine, and sing together the Ave-Kali mantra.

These are the formal events but informal events include Woodstock’s very own carnival for Halloween! Everyone gets dressed up and heads into town to parade, drum, dance and visit. On November 1st if there is enough interest a guide will be available to lead visitors to the protected dragon stones on the mountain.
