“With all the colors of your world, is it not strange that you have reduced them all to black and white? How did it come to this—that you can see either/or, neither/nor, but nothing in between? There is a whole world of color you do not see, an entire spectrum of experience that is lost to you.
“The eyes are windows to the soul, but that soul which is not open to the beauty of this world is impoverished, limited, and without hope. If you were to ask people of former epochs to paint a picture of hope, it would be a colorful picture filled with hues and tints that people of today’s world no longer see. You have lost your palette. You have forgotten your flowers. You have forgotten how to see.
“You must open your eyes…and then open your eye. For it is not the physical eyes alone that bear witness to wonder. Open the eye of the soul in prayer, and you will see everything. Nothing will be hidden. And you will know what remains to be known.”
