“Because you live your lives in Time, the things you must carry are many. But all that you carry is nothing but Time.
“This is the illusion that causes all of your pain and sorrow. You believe you must carry a Life to have a Life, rather than accept the gift that is given to you of all of your days. You must know that Life will carry you, that I will carry you.
“Did you bring yourself down across the centuries to where you stand today? Did you weave the sinews and cells of your own body in your mother’s womb? Do you cause the rain to fall and the rivers to flow?
“You do not, nor can you, ferry yourself over the seas of Time. You cannot bear up under it; the burden is too great, for you were never meant to carry it. All the things you treasure—the comforts and conveniences of your life, the clothes and finery, all of your plastics and personal possessions—these are nothing but Time. But you can set them down at any moment and step forward onto a path where I will lead you.
“You must know that you will not be able to do this until there is no other choice. When that moment comes, I stand ready to lead you forward. I am standing there and waiting even now.”
