You must be ready to travel a road a thousand miles long for a thousand years without once glancing to either side. You will need faith, hope, love, and little else to complete that journey. These are the only things you will be able to carry forward, and they will be all that you need to carry. For if you have these, you have everything. When you reach your destination, the world will be made new.
You will know which things must not be carried, those things that must be left behind, because they will be burdensome and irksome to you. They will be the things that you have grown most weary of. When the moment comes to leave them, everyone will know it. The only difference will be that some will know there is a journey that will take them beyond their present distress and the confusion of a world in disarray, while others will feel they must fix that former world for fear they cannot live without it. But everyone who travels on that thousand mile, thousand year road must walk on their own feet. No one will be forced to follow it, and no one can be carried.
