In counting, you quickly reach the limit of your fingers and toes, quickly pass the range of those things you can array before the mind’s eye. You are quickly beyond your pale and out of your depth.
The circle of your reality extends visually a few hundred feet in any direction, a few thousand feet aurally, and a few miles in terms of what you can smell by breathing deeply and slowly through your nose. The rumblings of the earth from tremors or thunder you can feel from further away. And, of course, you can feel the sunlight and even the moonlight on your skin.
Presently you suffer from the illusion that you can know everything, perceive everything, understand everything, when in fact those things I have given you to know and to love are surprisingly few and entirely manageable. You are overwhelmed by what you have no business with. You are troubled by things that are not your concern.
I have given you the life that fits in the palm of your hand, a journey than can be measured by ordinary footfalls, and a day that is governed by the rising and the setting of the sun. When you remember this, you will know what you are made for. But you will remember it only when you are forced to do so. Not before.
In truth, this is a gentle correction for your soul. Your people will feel it as a trial, a tribulation, and a testament of guilt against you. But you yourself are not guilty. You yourself are not unworthy. You, as you are, are valued. I will take you into My embrace.
