“There were times when, apart from the sky, green was the only color you could see for miles in any direction. Even green moss and lichen covered the trees and the rocks and the stones. The water was never quite truly blue, but always a little green because there was life in it. Pure water was living water. And that living water coursed through everything that was. There was an endlessly varied palette of the color green, and all other colors arose out of it—the bright bellies of bluebirds, the gold of the sunlight in a woman’s hair. All that was made was fashioned and refashioned endlessly from My body, and nothing was wasted, nothing was lost, and nothing was cast away.
“All of these colors that you have created, they are nothing but colors of your own. I will claim them and retain them and ultimately take them back where they belong. In My belly they will be dissolved, resolved, and renewed. Then the world will again be what it was. Only then will you be what you are.
“What you are now is a thing of your own imagining. Though many may call this wonderful, in reality it is terrible. In your hearts you know that this is true. I will teach you to be what you are, and then you will know how to live.”
